Mexico Orphanage Mission Trip Summer 2008: The Missions Committee is planning a Mission trip for any age; youth or adult. The
trip will be to San Miguel Mexico. Our mission is to help repair three orphanages that
are run by Dominican Catholic Nuns with no help from the church. Their main source
of income is from charitable donations. There are two girl orphanages and one boys’
orphanage. There are around 90 children in all three. Greg and Edna Thompson discovered
these orphanages while staying in San Miguel during their summers. They have
been involved since 2002, finding ways to help with their own resources as well as
recruiting other tourists in the area to participate. In past years they have found ways to
provide washer and dryers where clothes were originally washed by hand. They obtained
new bunk beds, lockers and other necessities.
From our own missions money St. Andrew’s will donate $2,000 to the orphanages for
various needs, but we can do more by actually sending people power. This is a safe trip
for all who wish to participate. San Miguel is a tourist area with much to do and see.
The temperature is a wonderful 75 degrees year round. The dates will be June 19 – 22,
cost will be $766 per person, which includes air fare, lodging and some meals. Additional
meals and spending money will also be needed. Sign up ASAP. June will be here
quickly. We want to have our team set to go by the middle of May and we will be limiting
the team number to fifteen.
The nuns often say that God will provide, and He does. This time it is our turn to be
God’s provider to these orphanages. So commit now to be God’s missionaries to the
orphanages. Sign-up! |
